Alejandro "Alex" Nunez was born in Havana, Cuba where he graduated as a Graphic Designer at the Technical Institute of Design. After graduation, he worked for the National Institute of Tourism as a Graphic Designer.
In 1995, he moved to Costa Rica where he met his future wife Maria Abela, from the famous Cuban family of Artists. In Costa Rica, he started his own graphic design business creating commercial murals and faux finishes.
After moving to Miami, Florida in 1999, Alex began working at Cigars and Things, a cuban memorabilia and art gallery where he acquired his skills in custom art framing and developed his collection of Cuban paintings "Ventanas de mi tierra" (Windows of my land) which depict his vision in vivid colors of the colonial architecture still present in Cuba.
In 2003 shortly after relocating to Southwest Florida, Alex and Maria opened West Coast Art and Design. Their vision: a company that offers a plethora of services within the interior design standpoint. With Alex's graphic artist skills and Maria's background in interior design, they are able to give their clients the guidance needed to achieve a balanced environment that represents their clients views.
